Many, many years ago God created people. He created them perfect, without sin. They lived in perfect harmony between themselves, God and nature. But they were not robots: God gave them the ability to think and choose for themselves between Good and Evil.
They chose Evil, and rejected the God that gave them life.
God's punishment for this deed was the death sentance!

You and I are all descendants of the original people that God created, and till this day we cannot get away from evil. Not a single day goes by that we do not break one of God's laws! And we are all doomed to die!
Or are we?
God saw that it was impossible for mankind to break away from evil, so He sent His only Son, Jesus, to live among us for 33 years. That happened 2000 years ago. He was the only man that could ever live without giving in to evil. People hated Jesus so much that they killed Him in the most horrible way, by nailing Him to planks and hanging Him in the heat of the desert sun to die. You say that this is a horrible story?
Maybe, yes, but it was planned that way by God Himself.
See, with this act, Jesus took all the blame for the evil things that you and I do on Himself. He paid the full price of the full punishment of God.
What is in this for you?
Jesus is not dead.
Three days after He was killed, He came back to life. He paved the way for you and me to live for ever.
So then, will we automatically live for ever?
No, and here is where the commitment comes into the picture.

Firstly you must realise that there is only one God, the Trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, Creator of the heavens and the earth. He is also the author of the greatest book ever written, the Bible, in which He reveals the secret to eternal life.

Secondly you must also realise that you are not living according to God's laws, and no matter how hard you try, you are still sinning against Him. His law says that you must love Him with all of your heart, and that you must love all other people, even your worst enemy, as much as you love yourself. Although it seems to be a simple law, it is impossible to keep to it every day. The punishment for not keeping God's law is the death penalty. But not only that: It also means being punished in Hell forever!

Thirdly you must accept and believe with all of your heart that God sent his only Son, Jesus, to pay the ultimate price for you. He was actually punished in your place. This means that you do NOT have to be punished for not keeping God's laws! What is more: this also means that you will live for ever!
To die on earth is only the beginning for a brand new life with a brand new body that will not age, that will never become sick and that will feel no pain.
